Longtime Chicago DJ and producer Brian Rosin, known professionally as D2A, has been found dead and hanging from a building by local police. The 35-year-old had been charged on May 21st with the April 29th homicide of his wife, Isabel, and was awaiting trial while on house arrest.
The Cook County Examiner – who declared Rosin’s death a suicide – had also previously ruled his wife’s death a homicide. The two had taken psilocybin mushrooms the night before she passed away, and Rosin claimed she had a “schizophrenic episode” prompting him to smother her with two pillows to keep her from waking the neighbors, according to Chicago Sun-Times. Both took medication for psychiatric conditions, according to Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy.
5 Magazine reports that Rosin was a fixture of Chicago nightlife, originally under the stage name Hannibalectro. As D2A, he performed at clubs like Spybar and Annex in addition to releasing music through labels like Utopia Ltd. and Giallo Musica. He also created the artwork for albums like Disko Bloodbath and Music For Murder Vol. 1.
The Rosins, who had been together three years, did not have any children.
