Loco Dice and Eddie Fowlkes have a joint EP on the way: D-TOWN PLAYAZ via the former’s En Couleur imprint. Ahead of its August 4th, 2020 release, the two artists have shared a mini-documentary of the same name.
The short video chronicles a visit to Detroit in which Fowlkes and Loco Dice (real name Yassine Ben Achour) put the finishing touches on their EP. “In my early days I was a huge Eddie Fowlkes fan and I played his Detroit Wax releases a lot,” said Achour. “When I finally met him in Detroit years later it was clear that there was a bond between us which lead us to make this EP together.”
Two Different Worlds
For techno diehards, Fowlkes needs no introduction. The Detroit DJ and producer was among the first-wave Detroit techno artists whose music put the Motor City on the map among electronic music enthusiasts in the late ’80s.
Born in Tunisia and based in Düsseldorf, Achour’s career came into its own much later. He released his debut album, 7 Dunham Place, in 2009. Earlier in 2020, he inaugurated En Couleur with an EP titled Sweet Nectar Blossom.
