Stendhal Festival in Ireland Propose Socially Distant August Event, Unlock

Northern Ireland’s Stendhal Festival has proposed a social distancing-compliant makeup event to replace their August gathering. If all goes to plan, Unlock will draw between 500-1,000 revelers to Ballymully Cottage Farm across two weekends: August 21st-22nd and 28th-29th, 2020.

The official go-ahead is pending lawmaker approval. In the event that it moves forward, both camping and non-camping tickets will be sold. Each camping pass will allocate no more than two attendees an eight-square-meter plot on the condition that they live in the same household or support bubble. 50 headliners across at least three stages have been planned for the event according to Mixmag.

Irish response to the COVID-19 pandemic was arguably swifter than that of the U.K., where illegal raves have emerged as something of a trend. Two Manchester gatherings collectively drew 6,000 last month, prompting lawmakers to promise “stronger, more robust response.” Three were arrested for organizing a rave that would have taken place last weekend in nearby Staffordshire.

Stendhal Festival’s organizers will announce the Unlock lineup on July 3rd. Find additional information on their official website.
