Denis Kaznacheev is set for extradition to the U.S. by the German government. The Siberian DJ and producer is said to have been arrested in Berlin, where he’s based, on charges of money laundering and fraudulent web activity. His colleagues have launched a campaign called Justice for Denis in hopes of keeping him in Germany and covering unforeseen expenses.

A written description on the Justice for Denis website professes Kaznacheev’s innocence. Arguing that his identity may have been stolen and used for the aforementioned illegal activities, it calls upon his fans to sign a petition and donate to his apartment rental fees and court costs.

“Germany should stand by Denis’s innocence and fair civil treatment, and defend him to avoid extradition, as so far, there’s no proof that he is guilty of any of the charges,” reads a passage. “The USA can’t unlawfully arrest and destroy the life of a person without evidence.”

Who is Denis Kaznacheev?

Denis Kaznacheev rose to prominence in the electronic music world as one half of the duo Easy Changes, who began releasing music in 2007. In 2009 they founded a label called Nervmusic Records that has provided a platform for such artists as Laurine FrostAkiko Kiyama, and Andrey Zots.

2010 marked the year Kaznacheev relocated to Berlin, and by 2015 he began releasing music as a solo act. Outside of Nervmusic, his minimal house and techno releases have found a home on such labels as BPrecs and Castanea Records.

At the time of writing, Kaznacheev’s fundraiser has reached over €7,800 of its €10,000 goal. Donations can be made via GoFundMe and the petition can be signed on Change.org.
