Jake Flory has shown that his strong 2019 debut to be more than a flash in the pan. He has followed up his Origins EP via iO (Mulen)‘s Hoarder imprint by self-releasing a minimal house two-tracker called the Listen EP.
The title track sees the Manchester producer opt for a more atmospheric sound than what comprised the Origins EP. The B-side is where the effort truly shines, though. A soundscape that smoothly transitions between motifs and tempos, it receives high marks not only for its concept and execution but as a secret weapon for DJ sets as well.
Jake Flory’s Listen EP can be downloaded in digital format on Bandcamp. COVID-19 restrictions permitting, his next performance is a headline set for Pineal Groove, which takes place at Manchester’s South Nightclub on November 30th, 2020.
