MUTEK.SF has announced a virtual festival scheduled later in the month. The annual gathering had been scheduled for May 3rd-6th in San Francisco, but NEXUS Experience will go on instead from May 23rd-24th on account of COVID-19.

Powered by playlist hosting site Currents.fm, NEXUS Experience will attempt to foster a “sense of gathering and group friendship by creating and sharing experiences in private rooms.” Performing artists will include K-HANDRP BooJasmine Infiniti and Auscultation per Resident Advisor. Ticketing is donation based with proceeds going directly to the artists.

The flagship MUTEK event has taken place annually in Montréal, Quebec since its debut in 2000. With a mission of promoting electronic music and the intellectual culture around it, the five-day gathering sees DJs, controllerists and other performers paired with visual art forms and installations.

Over the past 20 years, the brand has grown to include offshoot events in Mexico, Spain, Japan, Brazil and Argentina. Until further notice, the Montréal event remains scheduled for August 25th-30th, 2020.
