Dub Techno Forerunner Moritz von Oswald to Take New Live Show, Akklamation, on Tour

Moritz von Oswald has had a hand in his fair share of experimental endeavors since the days of Basic Channel. His upcoming project is a live show called Akklamation that he will bring to six North American cities throughout January.

“Akklamation serves as an investigation into the future of rhythmic structures, timbral architecture and an exploration of the psycho-physical effects of repetition,” reads a statement accompanying the announcement. The tour kicks off with a show in Montreal, Quebec on January 16th, and after four U.S. dates it concludes with a stop in Vancouver, British Columbia on January 25th.

Alongside fellow Basic Channel member Mark Ernestus, von Oswald was instrumental in crafting the early dub techno blueprint that evolved into the droning, ambient-leaning style championed by contemporaries like Marko Fürstenberg and Turing. Among his other projects is Borderland, a collaboration with Detroit techno originator Juan Atkins.

Tickets and additional information on individual dates of Moritz von Oswald’s Akklamatoin tour are available via Resident Advisor.
