After cultivating a mystique around his brand new Tonja Holma moniker, Eric Prydz has unveiled its debut release. The Tonja EP consists of four slow-burning progressive house cuts that exist in the happy medium between his more melodic and more dissonant musings.
Subtlety is central to the effort’s appeal. Whereas much Prydz’ 2016 artist album, Opus, spoke to the Swedish producer’s sense of high concept, the songs comprising the Tonja EP resulted from painstaking executions of simpler ideas. Even the scrawled words of the album art suggest a back-to-basics approach uncommon to the Eric Prydz brand.
As with any of his music, each entry of the Tonja EP‘s tracklist have surely found their way into numerous Eric Prydz sets leading up to its official release. What remains to be seen is how frequently he will put out music under the alias moving forward.
The Tonja EP by Eric Prydz (under his Tonja Holma alias) is out on Pryda Presents and can be purchased via Beatport.
