M.I.K.E. Push Reimagines Paul Oakenfold’s “Dreamstate Theme”

Paul Oakenfold teamed up with all-trance event brand Dreamstate to deliver its first-ever compilation album earlier in the year, and his own contribution, “Dreamstate Theme,” has received compelling remixes. The most recent one comes from a respected name in trance: None other than Mike Dierickx A.K.A. M.I.K.E. Push.

Oakenfold’s big, arena-friendly synths are considerably downplayed in favor of a more squelching tech trance sound in Dierickx’s version. The same exhilarating tension remains, however, building to a cacophonous peak during the breakdown.

As The Destination Nears

Dreamstate is owned by West Coast promoter Insomniac Events, although its festivals have spread to several continents over the past two years. In two months, the third edition of its flagship event, Dreamstate SoCal, will take place in San Bernardino, California.

Featuring entertainment rosters carefully curated with tenured trance fans in mind, Dreamstate rapidly became a staple among the genre’s discerning enthusiasts. Some of this year’s billings have elicited grumbles from diehards, though. Included in this year’s lineup is Armin van Buuren, whose name alone is enough to polarize dedicated trance fans.

Dreamstate SoCal will take place on November 24th and 25th at the National Orange Show Event Center in San Bernardino. The M.I.K.E. Push remix of “Dreamstate Theme” by Paul Oakenfold can be purchased here.
