Flight Facilities‘ recent return wouldn’t be quite as triumphant without proper remixers onboard. The Australian duo consisting of Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell arrived back on the scene with “Arty Boy” featuring Emma Louise back in June. Now, they’ve tapped Joe Goddard, Jarreau Vandal and Swindail for re-rubs of the tune.
Whereas the source material duplicated the polished house sound for which Gruzman and Lyell became well known, Goddard fitted his version with retro atmospheric synth melodies. Jarreau Vandal, on the other hand, incorporated heavy overtones of funk while reimagining the single, and the Swindail remix stands out as the most difficult to categorize of the lot.
Back On Course
The song that put Flight Facilities on the map was their 2010 Giselle Rosselli vehicle, “Crave You.” Kylie Minogue and Reggie Watts were among the more notable artists to be featured on their tracks, and before their release hiatus they released a debut album titled Down To Earth in October of 2014.
By the sound of things, the duo don’t plan on straying far from the style that their fans know and love. Rosselli’s contributions are all but interchangeable with those of Louise, and the shimmering sound design elements of their latest release evoke similar mental imagery to that of yesteryear.
As of August 30th, “Arty Boy” by Flight Facilities has surpassed two million plays across platforms.
