Despite being Italian producers, Minimono have made a sonic statement sure to meet with the approval of classic Chicago deep house enthusiasts. The duo consisting of Fabio Della Torre and Ennio Colaci will release their On the Edge EP via Inner Balance next month.
Each of the four singles comprising the EP exhibits a different manifestation of the duo’s soulful signature sound. Tastefully antiquated sounds abound in each entry of its tracklist, from the shimmering organ lead soaring over “Goblin” to the rubbery bass line underscoring “This Side of the Forest.”
Inner Balance is the vinyl-only sub label of Balance Recordings, which itself started out as a sub label of Prescription Records. The newest incarnation is owned by Chicago, Illinois producer Chez Damier and managed by Lisbon, Portugal artist Jorge Caiado.
On the Edge marks Minimono’s debut on Inner Balance. Previously, they have released music on Vibraphone and Robsoul, in addition to their own imprint, Bosconi.
On the Edge by Minimono arrives by way of Inner Balance on September 30th.
