The North American festival market doesn’t appear to be contracting quite yet. After months of deliberation, a massive three-day festival organized by San Fransisco Superfly has been approved to take place at Overland Park in Denver, Colorado.
Superfly is the outfit behind Bay Area festival Outside Lands as well as Tennessee music gathering Bonnaroo. For their Denver venture, they’ve been granted a capacity of 80,000 per day although the first year of the festival is projected to attract less than half that figure.
At present, the largest electronic music event in Colorado is Global Dance Festival. The annual gathering took place at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison up through 2016, and relocated to the parking lot outside Mile High Stadium in Denver for its 2017 edition.
Superfly has been approved to hold the three-day festival each September for five consecutive years from 2018 forward. While the promoter has expressed that acts from the local to international level will be booked to perform, they have not disclosed any additional details about the entertainment roster at this time.
