A staple of London dance music has relaunched the record label part of its brand. FatCat started out as a record store in the early ’90s before transitioning into an imprint, and its new reincarnation, FCR, will provide a platform for some prominent figures in house and techno.
FCR inaugurates with the deep house single “I Can’t Carry On” by Cottam. Mall Grab, Steve Bicknell, DJJ, Ali Berger, E&D, Lee Grainge and Artwork will see releases on the fledgling label in the months to follow.
On FCR, FatCat co-founder Dave Cawley has said:
FCR is going to be our label releasing club records that we like. I listen to what we have coming up and although it’s all over the shop—from the driving house of Cottam, to the two-step vocal cuts of E&D—it’s all FatCat. Both [fellow cofounder] Alex Knight and I are really excited to be finally releasing club 12-inches again. For now neither of us have any expectations—it’ll be small vinyl runs, plus hopefully some parties to share the sounds we like.
“I Can’t Carry On” by Cottam will come with a remix by Todd Modes, and will arrive by way of FCR on September 22nd.
