UK techno twosome Dense & Pika have an EP coming out on Adam Beyer‘s Drumcode imprint next month, but fans can now listen to it ahead of its release. Clips of the three tracks comprising the Suki EP are now available.
Techno purists likely won’t embrace the accessible, synth-driven brand of techno encapsulated in the Suki EP. Simple melodies serve as the centerpiece of each arrangement, with little emphasis on inventive placement of percussive and atmospheric elements.
Dense & Pika (whose real names are Alex Jones and Chris Spero) recently spoke out on the state of techno, arguing that it had become “the new ‘deep house.'” Ironically, Drumcode’s worldwide success has landed it in the crosshairs of more discerning electronic music fans who argue that it has homogenized a more shallow manifestation of the genre.
The Suki EP by Dense & Pika arrives by way of Drumcode on August 8th. In the meantime, find sample clips and preorder the effort on Beatport.
