DJ Tennis appears to be turning into something of a serial label founder. In addition to his Life and Death artist label the Italian house and techno producer recently teamed up with Marvin & Guy on a “pre-progressive” Italian techno imprint called Life of Marvin. Now, he’s added more musical dimension to his brand by joining forces with Michael Gracciopo to launch the ambient label Eraclea.
Eraclea’s “outside the club” releases will kick off in September with an album by Tim Mislock titled Now Is The Last Best Time. The Brooklyn-based artist specializes in a “guitar-based ambient” style perfectly encapsulated by the effort’s lead single, “A Conception of Memory.” Meandering sound design elements layer in over a dissonant distorted guitar melody, all of which devolve into atmospheric noise by the end of the 12-minute track.
“The name of the label is a dedication to someone special,” Gracioppo cryptically explained to Resident Advisor. “Feminine and divine, a light of inspiration. She was born in the late 19th century, in the hills of Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily.”
Now Is The Last Best Time by Tim Mislock will come out on DJ Tennis and Michael Gracciopo’s Eraclea imprint on September 8th. Find the tracklist for the effort below.
