Victor Calderone Debuts on MOOD with the Parallel EP

Victor Calderone wanted to make his debut on Nicole Moudaber‘s MOOD imprint count, so he released an entire EP on the label. The lead single of the Parallel EP arrived yesterday in the form of “The Difference,” and today, July 18th, he has followed it up with the title track.

Calderone’s recent productions have taken a comparatively melodic turn, and “Parallel” is no exception. A dissonant synth lead echoes over the high end of the arrangement, placing it in the deep techno category. “The Difference” exhibited similar leanings for its sultry female vocal refrain and spine-tingling strings.

A Brooklyn native, Victor Calderone’s techno credentials extend as far back as the ’80s. He performed and released music as one half of the techno duo Program 2 in the early ’90s, and was enlisted to remix singles by Madonna and Sting before the turn of the millennium.

Calderone’s MOOD debut has been a long time coming. He has collaborated with Moudaber both behind the decks and in the studio for years, and the two are playing a special back-to-back set at Sasha & Digweed‘s Resistance Ibiza party on July 25th at Privilege Ibiza.

In addition to two other original singles, the Parallel EP will include a remix by Ray Kajioka. It will come out on MOOD July 21st.
