DJ Tennis is having a busy 2017 indeed. The Italian DJ, producer and Life And Death label boss (whose real name is Manfredi Romano) launched a nostalgic new imprint a matter of days ago. Now, he’s shared a track titled “Certain Angles” featuring Fink which will appear on his upcoming DJ-Kicks compilation.
“Certain Angles” speaks to Romano’s eclectic range of influences as its downtempo musings make for a decidedly less club-friendly sound than what much of his fan base might expect. The meandering verses delivered by Fink’s Fin Greenwall guide the listener perhaps more than any other component of the arrangement, although emphatic strings and piano chords are progressively given more presence over the course of the composition.
Romano and Fink have worked together previously; the band had also contributed to his 2012 debut EP, Make It Good. Their latest collaboration will appear on the former artist’s DJ-Kicks compilation, which marks the first album of the series consisting of two CDs, or three vinyl records.
