Insomniac Events has revealed that its trance-only event brand’s flagship festival will return in 2017. The third edition of Dreamstate SoCal will take place at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, California on November 24th and 25th.
After tickets to the 2015 edition of the event ran out within hours of going on sale, Dreamstate became Insomniac’s fastest-growing asset. Two years later, Dreamstate festivals now take place in San Fransisco, Mexico City, Melbourne and London, and the first-ever Dreamstate tour headlined by global trance icon Paul van Dyk featured club nights at venues throughout North America.
While the success of Dreamstate certainly speaks to the loyalty of trance enthusiasts all over the world, some question whether or not the rapid expansion of the brand is sustainable.
Where the 2015 edition of Dreamstate SoCal featured a single stage, all of the time slots of last year’s edition were split across four stages. The event didn’t come close to selling out, and the organizers may not have broken even on it. The tour faced scrutiny as none of the individual events had been as carefully curated as the festivals themselves, causing many to speculate that perhaps Insomniac is wringing Dreamstate of its brand loyalty.
At this time, Insomniac Events has not revealed any lineup or staging details for Dreamstate SoCal 2016.
