Sharam Shares Lead Single from Newly Announced Album

Sharam has announced an album that looks to be a menacing departure from his typically more inviting sound. The house and techno DJ/producer and one half of recently reunited duo Deep Dish will release his third solo LP, Collecti, in four installments by the end of October 2017.

Sharam, whose full name is Sharam Tayebi, celebrated the announcement by unveiling the lead single from the effort: a subversive, almost aggressive soundscape titled “Scorpi.” It’s an unexpected concept to say the least. Largely percussive and almost devoid of melody, the track makes a challenging sonic statement that has been absent from the Iranian artist’s recent discography.

Yoshitoshi, the imprint on which Collecti will come out, describes the effort as a throwback to “the darker influences of techno” at Sharam’s origins. Tayebi himself has said, “These records are my dance floor experiments, my secret weapons, tracks that have been driving my sets.”

According to a post on Sharam’s Facebook page, the first installment of Collecti‘s four-part release will arrive by way of Yoshitoshi on July 21st.
