Fyre Festival will not have been the only major cancellation to overshadow the world of electronic music community in 2017. Second Horizon Festival outside Berlin was slated to kick off today, June 23rd, and extend through the 26th – but it has been shut down by local authorities who require all attendees to vacate the premises.

A post to the Shönefeld municipality website made on Tuesday, June 20th officially declares the prohibition of the festival, denouncing it as a “threat to public security and order” and asking that all planning to attend make other arrangements. According to BZ revelers had arrived on Thursday nonetheless, and organizers allowed them to stay overnight due to inclement weather.

Earlier today, a post to the Second Horizon Festival Facebook page revealed that the promoter had submitted an application for an interim injunction against the Shönefeld municipality’s “unlawful order” to the Administrative Court of Cottbus. By the time untold thousands of festivalgoers had arrived, though, it came to light that the event would not be allowed to take place after all.

Spread across three stages, Second Horizon Festival catered to fans of psytrance, hi-tech and techno. The 2017 edition lineup featured such artists as Vini ViciFRANTiC NOiSE and Yetti Meissner.

Second Horizon Festival’s organizers have not issued an official statement about the cancellation of the festival at this time.
