Tom Snares and Ariel Black have combined tongue-in-cheek humor with analog antiquity for their new endeavor. Under the collective pseudonym Lust Fund, the Brooklyn duo have offered up the four-track Split EP by way of Rinsed.
Rather than listing all four tracks of the EP as Lust Fund singles, Snares is credited for “Dynamic Plasma Field” and “Miura P400” and Black for “Crypt Walk” and “Super Light Rei.” In addition, Snares delivered a “high intensity breaks edit (sic)” of the former track as an extra. Although either artist’s distinctive sound design sensibility can be heard in their own contributions, the whole of Split EP works as a singular artistic expression.
Brooklyn-based Rinsed launched in 2010 and started out as an underground event series. According to their website they curate the atmosphere of each gathering to place greater emphasis on the music than the person playing it, but over the years the record label extension of their brand has released music by the likes of Vanilla Ace, Shiba San, Actress, Tiger and Woods, Sinden and Marc Kinchen.
Lust Fund’s Split EP comes out on Rinsed tomorrow, June 23rd, via digital download and limited edition cassette tape. Purchase the album or find more information here.
