A new outfit has made its presence known in the underground electronic music landscape of NYC. Samo Records‘ inaugural release has officially come out today, June 21st, in the form of Pixelife‘s Chimeras in the Matrix EP.
Both the title track and “Omega Block” encapsulate a markedly melodic interpretation of acid techno, but are still dark and introspective in their musings. Tronik Youth and Antoni Maiiovi were assigned remixing duties for the former and latter track, respectively.
Pixelife, whose actual name is Sean Dack, works as a visual artist in addition to DJing and performing live in the NYC underground electronic music scene. Prior to the launch of Samo Records he also released music via Throne of Blood, Horn Wax, and Let’s Play House.
The digital version of the album came out on May 31st, but the 12″ vinyl record is out now and can be found on the Samo Records website. The fledgling label will follow it up with Ultraviolet EP by Australian electronic music artist Tunnel Signs on July 30th.
