Daft Punk fans have been clamoring for new music in 2017 and their fervor has finally been answered. The French house and electro duo have released a single at long last: a collaboration with Australian disco funk band Parcels titled “Overnight.”
It’s technically a Parcels track with Daft Punk credited as co-writers and producers, but with that said it’s not a departure from the duo’s recent musings. Taking into account Parcels’s rich and largely instrumental signature sound, they would have fit right in with the likes of Nile Rogers and Giorgio Moroder on Daft Punk’s 2013 album Random Access Memories.
Rumors of a 2017 Daft Punk tour abounded last year, but none bore fruit. Fans were also disappointed with the duo’s theatrical 2017 Grammy Awards as they weren’t able to showcase any improvisational skills as DJs.
“Overnight” by Parcels is available on Spotify, although not in the U.S. as of this writing. Everyone else can find it here.
