A 24-hour live stream fundraiser event in support of the farmers’ protest in India will take place on March 13th. A partnership between event brand Daytimers UK, podcast No Nazar, and collectives across the globe, all proceeds from Solidarity With Our Farmers will go to the NGO Khalsa Aid International.

The event will feature performances by South Asian DJs like Jyoty, DJ Complexion, Nabihah Iqbal, AnuRaji Rags and AHADADREAM. It will stream via Twitch as well as the benefit’s JustGiving donation portal starting at 10:00 AM GMT. Contributions will help Khalsa Aid’s India team provide food and essential goods to protest groups.

The farmers’ protests erupted in response to three acts passed by the Indian government in September that are often referred to as the Farm Bills. Farmers’ unions argue that the legislations further disadvantage India’s already struggling agriculture workers by lifting regulations that protect them from corporations.

Among the protestors’ demands are a special Parliament session to repeal the laws, a 50% reduction in diesel costs for farmers, and the release of farmer leaders arrested at demonstrations. Al Jazeera reports that at least 248 farmers have died in the protests as of March 5th.
