“Trigonometry” bears distinct hallmarks of Sasha’s signature sound. Understated melodies layer in so gradually that you hardly notice any progression, but the arpeggios build up to a subtle crescendo nonetheless. A simple chord plays out on an organ during the break before composition disseminates back into its primal origins.

After a long hiatus from releasing music, Coe had made a triumphant return with “Vapourspace” and “Ether” in 2015. The following year he reunited with John Digweed behind the decks – the man with whom he performed legendary back-to-back sets in the ’90s.

The Cassy remix of “GameOvr” was the first morsel from the album of its namesake to entice fans, and judging by the timing probably the last until the official release itself. In addition to the original mix of “GameOvr,” the EP will also include a remix of “Trigonometry” by Swedish DJ and producer La Fleur.

Characterized by a decidedly harder manifestation of the Sasha sound, Cassy’s remix of “GameOvr” hinges around primal kick drums and a discordant synth melody echoing throughout the arrangement. Swedish DJ and producer La Fleur has been assigned remixing duties for the other single of the EP. Titled “Trigonometry,” it bears more of the melodic hallmarks typical to Coe’s discography.

As progressive house came to pervade the UK electronic music scene in the ’90s, Sasha was among the emerging genre’s poster children. Together with DJ and producer John Digweed, he quickly made a name for himself as the two performed legendary back-to-back sets at London’s renowned monthly series Renaissance.

After parting ways in 2010, Sasha and Digweed reunited behind the decks last year unexpectedly during the latter artist’s set at Easter Bedrock 2016. They played another back-to-back set at The Social Festival the same year but have resumed their solo careers otherwise.

Sasha’s GameOvr will come out on Watergate Records August 21st.
