Before shutting its doors in 2016, Space was a massive nightclub located in Platja d’En Bossa. With a capacity of 5,000, the club was known for its large outdoor terrace. Other clubs in the area had to enclose their open-air areas due to noise complaints, making Space one of the few clubs with a truly open-air dancefloor. Carl Cox maintained a residency with the club for nearly fifteen years and produced the popular Music is Revolution event there.

Space Founder, Pepe Roselló, told Ibiza publication Periódico de Ibiza that a new “musical restaurant” reportedly called Space Sun Beach is opening in San Antonio. Back in May, Roselló spoke about another Space-related venue with publication Noudiari.es. It remains unclear if the two are related.

At the moment it is also unclear what this has to do with the Playa d’en Bossa billboard. Empresas Matutes, the company that owns the Hard Rock Hotel and Hï Ibiza, which sits on the former site of Space, has not commented.

Roselló and Empresas Matutes have been feuding since Matutes forced the closure of Space in 2016. As of now, it is unclear who actually owns the Space brand.

Prydz had cryptically tweeted the solitary phrase “Pry-Trance” last month with no further explanation. Considering the producer’s penchant for cryptic releases, fans speculate that the tweet was an allusion to the song he just dropped. Indeed, aside from a metallic swoosh that rings out repeatedly for much of the track, its sound design elements liken it to much of what comes out in the trance genre.

Although his signature blend of progressive house and synthwave is in a class all its own, Prydz certainly isn’t averse to trance. He has performed at festival stages curated by Armin van Buuren‘s A State Of Trance in the past, and his diehard fan base overlaps with much of the genre’s impassioned following.

Eric Prydz has not revealed an official title or release date for his “Pry-Trance” single at this time. After a performance tomorrow, August 15th, he will close out his Hï Ibiza residency with a final show on the 22nd.

The set in question exhibits Prydz’ more melodic musings. It starts with what fans have dubbed his “Police Escort ID” (as he opened with the track at Tomorrowland after being rushed there by Belgian authorities at 160 MPH) and keeps the soaring synthwave arpeggios constant through the next couple of tracks. The tone gets more sinister around midway through the roughly one-hour recording before coming full circle near the end.

Night and Day

Eric Prydz boasts a diverse enough discography to cater to a wide range of house and techno fans during his performances. While the music he puts out under his birth name and his Pryda moniker have grown mostly interchangeable as of late, he reserves his Cirez D alias for techno singles – like his recent release, “The Accuser.”

The set recording was originally uploaded by BBC Radio 1 on August 5th, but they did not disclose whether it was from Prydz’ most recent Hï Ibiza set or one further back. Prydateer Podcast shared it on SoundCloud under a Creative Commons license shortly thereafter.

Eric Prydz continues his Hï Ibiza residency with a headlining set tonight, August 8th. His Tuesday weekly will draw to a close after two more performances on the 15th and 22nd.

In the video, massive, terraced rectangles carpeted in LEDs raise and lower from the ceiling while a discordant melody rings out. Around the time thunderous bass kicks find their way back into the mix, a cage of spotlights ensnares the members of the audience under each installation for a few brief, flickering moments.

Hï Ibiza is new to the White Isles, having replaced the world-famous Ushuaïa in the wake of its shutdown as a result of last year’s Operation Chopin raids. So far this summer the nightclub has also announced bookings like Armin van Buuren, Joris Voorn and Black Coffee.

Eric Prydz is slated to perform every Tuesday at Hï Ibiza through August 22nd. On the July 18th and August 22nd installments he will be accompanied by none other than Joel Zimmerman A.K.A. deadmau5 in addition to support from other artists during other editions of the weekly.
