Kicking off with an exclusive opening event on June 30th, Kappa Futur’s ninth edition will be spread across four stages. In addition to the daytime festival, a string of five different after parties has been announced.

Situated at Audiodrome and Azimut Club, SKREAM, Berghain resident Boris Dolinski, and DJ WADE, amongst others, will guide guests through the after hours gatherings. Each event runs from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day. Full set times are accessible through the official Kappa Futur app.

2020 tickets will roll over to 2022, but weekend passes only include Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd. To attend Friday, holders of said passes must buy an additional ticket.

The gates open at midday and the festival ends at midnight. Guests will receive an RFID-based wristband for cashless purchases on the festival grounds.

Born in 2008, FuturFestival was a celebratory effort for the 100th anniversary of the Italian Futurism movement. Resulting in “Italy’s most appreciated New Year’s Eve party,” the event gathered over 7,000 people at Oval Lingotto in Turin. In 2012, the project evolved into a daytime summer festival under the name Kappa FuturFestival.

Kappa Futur is considered one of Europe’s top five festivals and was the first Italian format to introduce cashless payment. In 2019, it was awarded “Best International Festival” at the DJ Awards.

Featuring 86 flyers and 130 posters from the ’80s and ’90s, “Ruta Gráfica: Designs For The Sound Of Valencia” is taking place until June 12th, 2022. Including works by cartoonists and graphic artists, the exhibition falls within the framework of the World Design Capital Valencia 2022 initiative.

“The goal is to afford a unifying narrative on the evolution of the graphic design that grew up around the scene, one of its lesser-known aspects,” reads a statement on the IVAM website. “The point of departure for the exhibition walkthrough is Valencia’s longstanding tradition in comics and illustration, connecting with the arrival of modernity in music and aesthetics in the eighties, and ending up in the digital technologies that defined the final phases of the phenomenon.”

“The exhibits are supplemented by numerous interviews with the various agents involved in the design process — designers, artists, printers and cultural managers — along with a selection of classic posters and merchandising from the time,” they added in regards to other activities throughout the exhibition period.

With the space already designed, the collective is looking for help building it. They also plan to offer a two-week design and build workshop for up to 50 participants.

In a six-week timeframe, they are looking at hosting 40 late-night and fringe events filled with over 100 Irish artists. Additionally, Temporal Pleasure is collaborating with 12 local organizations.

In 2021, they designed, built, and tested a prototype club in five days. Located in a disused warehouse, they realized the prototype together with 20 workshop participants, a carpentry shop, and a queer community center. The fundraiser goal is €25,000.

“Over the last two decades, 90% of Irish nightclubs have disappeared. This September, we’re turning a vacant inner-city space into a new ephemeral club — designed, built, and programmed by local communities who have lost their venues,” Temporary Pleasure wrote in a statement on the Kickstarter page.

“Earlier this year, we won an Arts Council ‘Engaging with Architecture’ Award, raising half the money we need to design and build a new club through public engagement,” they continue. “We’ve designed our dream club — now we need your help to build it.”

Fighting the fading of Irish nightlife, Temporary Pleasure is a group made up of of creatives and architects. Working closely with locals in the process, they transform unoccupied buildings into cultural pop-up locations.

Amid Barcelona’s busy downtown, LEB will focus on an intimate atmosphere and hi-fi sound quality. Through carefully curated music lineups, the venue in the city’s downtown shows promise for local music lovers.

The location features a L’Acoustic’s Soundsystem and lighting. It’s split in two; the red-colored main room contrasts with the dark green-colored cocktail bar. LEB holds up to 400 attendees.

After grand opening events on April 16th and 17th headlined by Ferro and Traumer, LEB will host a string of weekly events for up until late June. Among others, the Spanish party series Roots is celebrating its fifth Anniversary with guests Arapu and Allfie on May 8th.

Manchester collective Animal Crossing will also hold an event on June 17th. In addition to that, Berlin-based Cinthie brings her 803 Crystal Grooves label to LEB on June 18th.

Situated on Carrer de Guàrdia, Les Infants Brillantes is run by the team behind another Barcelona venue called Input. “With the opening of Les Enfants Brillants we seek to accommodate a different club experience in every way we can,” Alex Molina, club booking manager told Resident Advisor. “The space will create an atmosphere in which the public feels comfortable, while immersing themselves in a world of hedonism in which they can enjoy good music every week.”

On bank holiday from August 27th to August 28th, the newly launched gathering will 3 take place at Boucher Road Playing Fields. Across multiple stages, guests will see international and national acts supported by light and AV installations.

Amongst others, Eric Prydz, Peggy Gou, FJAAK and DJ Seinfeld will perform at the gathering. Other notable billings include Special Request, Kettama and Mall Grab.

Speaking on the topic, EMERGE Music Festival Director Alan Simms stated: “The electronic music scene is one that has grown steadily in Belfast over the 30-odd years that I’ve been promoting in the city with my Shine brand, and it’s grown exponentially over the last few years.”

“We’re lucky to have some of the world’s biggest names in dance music on our inaugural lineup of EMERGE Music Festival, most of whom we’ve been working with since their very first club shows in the country,” he continued.

Organized by Belfast club brand Shine and Belsonic Festival, EMERGE is estimated to attract up to 20,000 revelers per day. That makes it one of Ireland’s biggest festivals alongside Belsonic.

After delaying the initial launch in 2020, organizers VBX and Paradigm will unite for a self-proclaimed “one-day festival trip.” Across two stages, attendees will get to enjoy a mixture of local and international talent in techno, house, and electro.

Amongst others, Abstract Division, Herra B2B Andy Luff, Sweely\, and VBX resident Reiss are on the bill. As the COVID-19 pandemic seemingly stabilizes around the globe, the announcement gives hope for an eventful spring and summer.

“After two years of orbiting our favorite planet, we’re finally allowed to disembark,” Paradigm wrote in a Facebook post. “We’re so incredibly excited to share the full Planet Paradigm 2022 line-up with you all.”

Holders of 2020 tickets can attend Planet Paradigm. Separately, Paradigm Festival 2022 is scheduled from August 13th to 15th.

Located in Groningen, Netherlands, Paradigm “is a feeling. The feeling you get when people from all walks of life come together for music, art and creativity,” according to their website. In the past, the venue has hosted to a variety of gatherings within the electronic music spectrum.

VBX is a music collective and record label based in Amsterdam. After three packed years of hosting a string of events, residents Ferro and Reiss launched the VBX label. It was vinyl only at first, but they now release digital files through Bandcamp.

Since its launch in 2019, 2022 will mark the second time the gathering has taken place. Organizers are also kicking off a record label with a limited-edition EP. Including tracks by McDowall and CASKO, among others, Marks of Existence is available for preorder now.

Across two days, the billing includes Jay Glass Dubs, Zoe McPherson, festival founder Odai Masri, and many others. There will also be a set of screenings, installations and panel talks realized together with Athens’ Movement Radio.

According to their Facebook page, “Exist Festival takes advantage of the fertility of Palestine’s counterculture and injects some of the most brilliant names in sound in the worldwide scene. Exist sees the potential of Palestine’s sound innovators and selectors and builds bridges between.”

PTX is a multi-level club and social space. Open since December, the location has been hosted for several events despite closing temporarily due to COVID-19. Fitted with L’Acoustics sound systems on every floor, PTX also will soon add a daytime cafe to its repertoire.

Located in East London’s Royal Docks, the venue is opening with a launch event from September 3rd-4th hosted by Defected. After that, Above & Beyond are bringing their renowned Group Therapy Weekender from September 10th-11th. The exact lineup for each gathering has yet to be announced.

Events will taking place year round at the venue, pushing music and other cultural lanes. Covering 400,000 sqare feet, Dockyards also provides room for film productions or brand presentations.

The venue is a venture of Broadwick Live, the minds behind Manchester’s Depot Mayfield plus famous London clubs Printworks and The Drumsheds. Due to COVID-19, the latter closed indefinitely at the beginning of 2022.

On this new project, Broadwick Live Group Managing Director Bradley Thompson said in a statement, “We’re really excited to open Dockyards, creating a new center of cultural gravity for London in the heart of The Royal Docks. Dockyards will shape the area through cultural and commercial innovation by bringing a year-round program of events and activities in partnership with the world’s best. As a Broadwick Live venue, visitors and artists are assured of a world-class experience, while we also deliver meaningful impact for the area and local communities.”

From 5:00 PM until 2:00 AM each night, attendees will have the chance to catch the biggest edition of RE/FORM yet. Taking place at multi-room warehouse venue Catch One, the gathering features a promising lineup for techno and house fans.

Among others, Dax J, DJ Deeon and SNTS will perform. Live sets will be delivered by Belief Defect, Skymall, Snakes of Russia, and others. Cloaking and OKTAform will provide visuals throughout the event.

Additionally, experimental labels BL_K Noise and UNDER | STATED will supply more leftfield sounds. Produced by RE/FORM by Night 2021 curators DG Productions, the event promises the full warehouse experience. It is similar to RE/FORM by Night by DVS1, which we reported about last year.

Following L.A. County COVID-19 regulations on the day of the show, guests are required to enter only with masks and proof of vaccination. Tickets for the event are also non-refundable, non-transferable, and not bound to artist cancellation.

Powered by 6AM Group, Synthetik Minds, and Dirty Epic, RE/FORM is a day-into-night event concept. According to the organizers, it “aims to showcase and elevate the presence of cutting-edge electronic music with a focus on quality techno and house.”

MC Skibadee is a name with which most drum and bass fans are more than familiar. Over his nearly 30-year career, the emcee graced various DJ sets and music releases within the drum and bass and jungle realm. Be it his more recent collaborations as part of SASASAS with DJ Phantasy, fellow MCs Harry Shotta and Shabba D, or packed out warehouse sets at Westfest, he stood out with a unique style of his own.

Initially starting out on pirate radio stations in 1993, Bondzie quickly became a staple amongst other emcees. He would go on to work with genre greats such as Shy FX, Nicky Blackmarket, Brockie and Dillinja.

Bondzie’s firstborn son shared the news by making two posts from his father’s Facebook page.

As of this writing, Alphonso Bondzie’s specific cause of death remains unclear.
