Michal Jablonski Returns to Binary Cells with Dark Techno EP, Higgs

Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

Michal Jablonski debuted on Binary Cells three years ago with a remix of “99 Reasons” by Casual Treatment. The label has now given a home to Higgs, a more involved release from the former producer. Comprising three original singles and remixes by VSK and Kwartz, the EP came out June 26th, 2020.

“Rain” introduces the corrosive textures and crisp sonics of the EP with a cinematic interlude, before unrelenting kick drums arrive in the title track. The effort reaches a fever pitch with “Fragile,” however. Suspenseful yet slow burning, the single explores much of the dynamic range while managing not to clutter the arrangement.

Meet Michal Jablonski

Born and raised in Warsaw, Poland, Michal Jablonski’s career in electronic music started over a dozen years ago. His passion for disc jockeying soon led him to music production, and he released his debut two-tracker, Bukowe, via Minimicromusic in 2010. In the years since, he’s added such labels as CRS ltdSecret Keywords and Newrhythmic recs to his résumé.

Techno is not the sole manifestation of Jablonski’s dynamic signature sound. In the fall of 2020, he will release an album of “ambient and cinema music” by way of Polish label Zoharum.
